McCabes in Baltimore, MD is for Great Comfort Food!

After our visit to Hampden and taking photos for my latest post...Miracle on 34th Street...Baltimore,Maryland Style, we stopped a McCabes for dinner. We had not been to this restaurant at 3845 Falls Road since it closed about a year ago.

We are delighted with the new McCabes and its selection of good home-style comfort food. The place is not very big, only ten tables and a bar that seats 15, but that's enough for a local neighborhood bar, which is full but not too crowded. The noise level is a bit high because of the size and the brick walls. This restaurant is definitely worth trying.

Lee started with a bowl of absolutely delicious Tomato Basil Soup, topped with a piece of crusty crouton.

Temperatures were in the 30's so this was an excellent choice! The yummy brisket was served with mashed potatoes, carrots, peas and onions.

The ribs were tasty, fall off the bone tender, served with extra sauce, fries and a really good, extremely thin sliced, cole slaw.

And to finish this lovely meal, it was hard choosing between the chocolate chip bread pudding and I forgot what other desserts. We chose to share a homemade warm slightly tart apple crisp with with vanilla ice cream. All in all a winning choice.

The foursome who sat at the next table, listening to us, ordered everything we did and were pleased to see me photographing food, something they like to do also.

If you are in the Baltimore area, go see the Christmas displays on 34th Street and have a bite at McCabes.
