How I Will Remember the Baltimore Blizzard of 2010

Snowbound families. Clogged roads. Icy sidewalks. Cabin fever. They are all part of The Blizzard of 2010 in the Baltimore/Washington area. The snow's not going anywhere soon,...so there will be more stories of kids missing school and state budgets destroyed by the cost of cleanup.

But that's not what I will remember when the summer heat and humidity return. I will recall the entertainment in my front yard as the acrobatic squirrels leapt from feeder to feeder, cleaning me out of seeds…again.

This is How I Will Remember the Baltimore Blizzard of 2010

I'll remember the thrill of digging my driveway and finding buried treasure in the snow – the newspaper! The sound of the most popular man around as he worked his little bobcat up and down the street.

With technology, of course, I kept on working, listing, and selling. But a record-breaking snow like this deserves time to enjoy its beauty and the reminder of how much entertainment we can find by just taking the time to stop and watch Mother Nature's show.

Shack Wacky Baltimore Neighborhood Freed by a Bobcat!

Yesterday was my normal work out day at the gym. But in case you have been on another planet, you know we are in the midst of yet another blizzard. And My Street is Not Even Plowed! Baltimore is Not Just for the Birds!

We were reminded to keep generators clear of snow...ok guess that is one of my assignments. After all...how much bird and squirrel watching can one do? Lots... Aren't these critters wonderful?

Shovel that helped with the lunges

Part of my exercise training is squats and lunges and they came in handy. No way could I walk under the house eaves...that was all ice. How do I get all the way to the opposite side where the generator is located? Here's how.. I removed one big shovel of snow to step in, used the shovel as a crutch, dug the next big hole and took another step..repeating until I made it all the way around. I cleared the snow off the generator and returned in my own "footsteps" each one a huge lunge. Now that's what I call a great workout.

Came back in and emailed Johnny, my personal trainer, thanking him for keeping me in such good shape! With a Little Help from His Friends - An Ironman Lesson

We didn't get plowed until Tuesday night when this other critter called a Bobcat cleared our street. A sight to behold the pushing, the shoving, the backing, the turning and... in about an hour our "shack wacky" neighborhood was open....but too late to go out, the next snowfall blizzard was already here.

I found my steps buried under a few feet of snow!

I had such good plans! We had plenty of warning about this blizzard and record breaking snowfall. So prepared I was....last night I went out and shoveled the 2-3 inches of snow from my driveway and front steps. Not too bad, it was a heavy snow. Yes, I was going to stay ahead of this one. Figuring if I did this every couple hours, it would be a piece of cake. Took a nap...slept well..woke up sore from the exercise... Ha..The next time I looked...where did my driveway and steps go?

It is soooo pretty but there is soooo much work to do.

Lenn Harley wrote a post earlier this morning and I commented " Beauty abounds as long as we have internet and electricity. Thank goodness for a backup generator which turned on only once during the night. Only one of the four TVs are working. My snow shovel and I are having multiple dates today.

The male and female cardinals make excellent supervisors. Glad I put the camera in my pocket. Figure by the time I shovel the driveway (no time soon) and my front steps which are done... the plow might get here.''

So what does this have to do with real estate? Take a look at a few properties that you could Forget the Snow...Live in a Condo!
