Take time to smell the roses and share them with a photo.

When I received these beautiful roses they were lovely  tight buds. Within hours of arranging them, they exploded into this gorgeous array. Wonder why? Maybe it was the warm water I used.

It Did Not Smell Like Roses!!

Yesterday I went out with "Future Sellers". Most of you call these clients buyers. Being a listing agent, there is no way I would encourage a buyer to purchase a property that I would not be proud to list in the future. Hence...I only work with future sellers.

I had appointments set up pretty quickly with our Centralized Showing Service. All of them scheduled between 1-3 PM. The second property, I used my Sentri card to obtain the key from the Lockbox, opened the door and the husband went in first. He came back coughing and gagging. My brilliant thought ...no need to go in.

But the wife loved the neighborhood and wanted to see this home.  Well we should have known better. We had to cut our showings short and did not get to the last two. I called CSS and canceled.

Upon my return.... an email requesting feedback was waiting for me.  I always give feedback and this time was no exception.. my feedback response to that second house read:

''House was filthy with crying cats...no litter boxes..feces everywhere.  My pregnant buyer got sick from the smell and condition and had to cancel our other appointments. This needs to be reported to animal control!''

I wanted to say so much more, like you wasted my time, turned these clients off, how dare you allow a showing with these existing conditions but I said no more.

And this morning I received the following reply:
"Thank you for the feedback, Margaret.  I wasn't aware.  The cats should have been removed a while ago.  I'll contact sellers.  My apologies."
It was a very unpleasant situation but I appreciated the quick response and apology.
It did not smell like roses!

Erica Brought Roses for Daddy ...and He Loved Them!

Usually  TLH, The Lovely Husband  brings home the flowers, but not this time.

It was Father's day and our daughter, Erica, knowing how much her dad likes roses... brought over two dozen long stemmed roses. I arranged them both in short vases.

Lee loved them! The red ones are on the coffee table right in front of his favorite TV watching spot.

The red roses look pretty all alone.

Time To Arrange the Roses Again.

TLH brought home roses this afternoon. They looked quite pretty in the kitchen sink but I knew I couldn't leave them there much longer.

They Are Not Roses But They Still Smell Good!

Stop and smell the Oriental Lilies does not have quite the same ring....as the familiar, "..take time to smell the roses."

But when TLH brings home flowers, it is a treat and arranging and photographing is a fun break from real estate. This may be a first for the Oriental Lily, quite pretty and a lovely fragrance.

This is not the first and probably not the last time I will be writing about flowers...check out a few others like, this "Twofer" , rose by any other name  roses and TLHgreen roses   and roses the color of a Baltimore Sky.

Even though these  beauties are not roses, Oriental Lilies sure smell good. The arrangement above was done 9 days ago and this one remaining flower, has lasted and opened to this full color beauty.

With Flowers and Beauty, It Does Not Always Have to be Roses!

You can call me lucky that my Lee enjoys bringing home flowers. You remember this guy..I wrote about him using ...My Best Close Ever and Forever

By the way, I have to have these posts relate to real estate in some way!

Most weeks he brings home flowers , frequently roses, but he has gotten more adventurous lately. I think he is enjoying how I arrange, photograph and then make a story for others to read. Here are the latest two. I think he was trying to go  purple for the Ravens, even the roses had a purplish tint. And this week it was carnations...red, white, pink and then I arranged them with some greenery. Quite pretty if I say so myself.

Think I am starting to like this flower arranging...it was just a bit easier with    these roses and these Roses and these roses and even Green Roses

While we are on the subject of flowers and nature...well we weren't but since it is my post, we are now. This is a picture of Baltimore's first dusting of snow taken right outside my office window. This fits right in with the Christmas photos and 31 Day Challenge.

A Rose by Any Other Name......

Some can even disagree on flowers.

Not too long ago I wrote a post about some pretty flowers and thought  No One Will Disagree With Me On This Subject!

But a couple of commenters let me yellow was not their favorite color. In fact Russel Ray even talked about two stray yellow roses in his garden, He found them  a nuisance and even with weed spray,  could not kill them. I called and suggested he clip those two roses and make a present to someone who might enjoy them. And do it each time those annoying flowers bloomed. Now I wonder if he ever did that.

Then yesterday my Lee, TLH, brought me a bouquet with lots of colors. Rose Bouquet HomeRome RealtySo I thought maybe I can make two different arrangements... one with and one without the yellow ones. Would I then please everyone?

Here is the whole bouquet in my kitchen sink.

Here is my first arrangement.Rose Bouquet HomeRome Realty

And then an arrangement using the yellow ones .

Guess these are prettier..what do you think?

I happen to like all those colors but do think the one without the yellow is much prettier. In a week they will be gone and I just might be lucky enough to get another bouquet!

Green with Envy…Time to Smell the Roses

Green Rose

You might be green with envy when you see these stunning roses that TLH (The Lovely Husband) brought home to me the other day. While arranging them, I was really intrigued by the color. Have you ever seen green roses before? It has taken me a few days to get around to photographing them, hence they are not quite as fresh and perky as they were. These photos are untouched - look at the contrast to the small white flowers. Yes, they really are green and they are really pretty!

Green With Envy...Time to Smell the Roses

What's this got to do with real estate? Absolutely nothing…I just decided to take time to smell the roses.

This is a Baltimore Sky...Not One in Arizona

This is a Baltimore sky...not one in Arizona.

It was a wonderfully busy Sunday; met with new clients, took a listing, showed a couple of properties, along with the emails, phone calls and just everyday life. On the way home, I stopped for a few needed things at the store.

Rose Bouquet

Instead of stopping to smell the roses, I bought some. This color was calling my name - so pretty and so unlike all the others in their shades of reds and pinks. I walked out of store looking forward to going home. But then I was struck by the beauty of the sky. I thought of Mike Jones and his Arizona skies, but this evening I was not in AZ, I was less than two miles from home staring up at a sky the same shade as my pretty bunch of roses.

Tic Tac Toe Sky

I drove a few blocks to really see the show, and a show it was! There was Tic-Tac-Toe going on in all its glory. I just kept shooting and watching the intensity of the colors deepen into the sunset. Now that is my kind of art - nature does it with such perfection. Maybe not the same Arizona skies that Mike sees on a daily basis, but for Baltimore, it was a sheer and utter exquisite delight.

Tic Tac Toe Sky - deeper

Deepest Tic Tac Toe Sky

And upon arriving home, I arranged the pretty roses in a vase, sat back, and smiled. Together Lee and I smelled the roses. Could you hear me smiling?
