We had a charming guest of honor...Jeff Dowler

We had a charming guest of honor.. Jeff Dowler

It was a wonderfully busy Thursday for me. There was a ratified contract, a home inspection and the need to get to Annapolis by 6:30 for the ActiveRain meeting with Jeff Dowler.

That is definitely rush hour traffic but good planning made the drive a pleasure. Bridget McGee and I drove down together.

The setting was beautiful for our dinner at the Severn Inn in Annapolis with the Naval Academy as  a back-drop.

                                            Laura Murray and Mortgage Mama

It was a pleasure meeting AR newbie Laura Murray who was asking wonderful questions! It was hard answering with everyone talking and sharing many stories. Amazing how everyone gets to know each other from just living in your computer.

These Agents Got It!!

These Agents Got It!

                                                       IT HomeRome 410-530-2400

Recently wrote a post about a friend who is thinking of retiring to Florida but has no clue how or where or with whom to start. So I wrote this post..Attention Florida Brokers and Real Estate Agents...Who is Going to Help Me Find a Florida Home?

These agents  got "IT"

Look at these two comments:

The first is  from 'The Other Margaret in Maryland" one of my favorite members...Margaret Woda.

"Margaret, I understand where these folks are in their search.  It has to start somewhere and, like many people, they really don't know where that should be.  When you're contemplating retirement, you really do have the whole country to choose from... narrowing it down to Florida is a good start.  A Florida agent who loves their area will reach out and share it with others, and their enthusiasm will be contagious." Margaret Woda got it! She understands that people retiring are not sure where they want to settle down.

The second one... Connie Harvey also got it!

''The truth is, unless you've spent a lot of time in Florida, you couldn't possibly know for sure where you'd want to go. If I were an agent in FL and had property that met what they've asked for, I'd be selling my community to them!!!''

Agents can start a line of referrals with other agents. Think of  ALL the  Realtors®  in  All the States....not just Maryland or Tennessee, who have clients in this situation. This is such an opportunity to show off our properties. Tell people why they should consider our area.

Since I found out that Yahoo named Baltimore as one of the Top 10 Destinations for Holiday Lights...(Miracle on 34th Street )

I  need to write another post..."Why move to Maryland?"

Thanks Margaret Woda and Connie Harvey

Wear RED Friday 2/4/2011 This Is A REBLOG! Written by Margaret Woda, the Other Margaret In Maryland.

This Is A REBLOG! Written by Margaret Woda, the Other Margaret In Maryland.

Wear RED tomorrow for National Wear Red Day

Woman wearing red
Be sure to wear RED tomorrow, February 4, for NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY - an annual reminder from the American Heart Association that another woman dies every minute from stroke or heart disease.  Could the next one be you, your spouse, your mother, your sister, your daughter, your best friend, your favorite mentor?

Dig out that once-a-year RED Valentine tie, Guys, because this reminder isn’t just for women.  YOU can make a difference, too, by joining the important women in your life who will be wearing RED on Friday to create awareness of this national problem.

National Wear Red Day PinMacy’s is helping to spread the word by offering 20% off February 2-6 to anyone wearing RED.   May I suggest you use some of that savings to purchase the official “red dress” pin for $2, because 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association.  Just imagine how much money could be raised if every person who walks through the door of any Macy's nationwide over these five days would purchase a "red dress" pin.  Other national sponsors are offering special promotions, too, so visit their website for details.  You’ll find them listed at NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY. (Click on the link)

Invite your whole company or bridge club or bowling team to go RED tomorrow: bake some heart-shaped cookies and have your own one-person bake sale to help raise funds for research; and pledge to get healthy, starting today.
Make it your mission to fight heart disease in women!

The Margarets of Maryland ...Top Two Women in ActiveRain

Back in March of 2008, I wrote this post..

''The Margarets of Maryland"

M Woda
What do you do when someone with your name passes you by in the ActiveRain rankings? You say "Congratulations!" Especially when that someone is a gracious lady named Margaret Woda.

A few weeks ago, the Other Margaret of Maryland warned me to get my blogging back up to speed because she didn't want to pass me and become #2 on the Maryland page. How's that for thoughtful and considerate?

But I've been a bit busy lately with changing companies, taking new listings, speaking at the Women's Council of Realtors, taking classes, and, oh yes, writing a book (coming this summer!) With all that, the blogging frequency slipped and so did those points. The other night I called Margaret Woda to congratulate her, and we had a lovely conversation. I can't think of anyone I'd rather have overtake me…at least temporarily...than this Anne Arundel County professional.Congratulations, Margaret!''  This was written in 2008!

#############################################

Fast forward a few years ....January 2011, I received this email from the other Margaret in Maryland.
From: Margaret Woda,  To:
Margaret Rome

''  Congratulations!  Hey, you're back where you belong - ranked above me on Activerain.....''  and signed...
''Margaret (The other Margaret in MD)''

Again today, Margaret and I had a wonderful conversation, talking about this past year, sharing some gal pal stuff and making plans to get together soon for lunch. Margaret is a gracious, kind, supportive, wonderful sharing and caring friend. I am delighted to share the top two women positions with her.

There is definitely room at the top for both of us...The Margarets in Maryland.

I am in Love...and We Just Met Today!

Love computerI am not the only one who feels this way about this young man, either. The other Margaret in Maryland, Margaret Woda introduced us: My Hero, My Tech Co-ordinator - David Fox.

For the past 5 hours (I'm writing this Sunday night) I have been shopping, bought a new CPU (which blew up and was running all my printers), monitor, cable connection for an old printer, new keyboard, mouse, replaced Linksys with Netgear, and it is all installed and up and running! All this in just FIVE hours on a Sunday night. It is unheard of to have this kind of trust in a techie that I just met...yet I do.

David FoxWhat is so terrific, he knows real estate and all the systems including MRIS photos, MLS, Internet Sentri, Settlement Express, and all the other goodies that we agents need. Plus he is an Active Rain member....how cool is that!!

I did not have to explain one thing...just told him how I worked and what I needed. Voila a whole new system, back up and virus protection in place, and he set it up so he has remote access to my systems

Where has he been all my computer life? With David just a phone call, I mean an email, I mean a text away, I am one happy agent.

Now I can concentrate on my 15 listings, my seminar this afternoon Still Three, Still Free - But With a New Face , and all the other important things going on in my wonderfully busy life.

How could it be any better? David and I are two of a kind…he is Type E, scoring 29 out of 30!
